The King of Content

The King of Content
Whilst the seo phrase "content is king" may sound a little above itself, here at velocityweb we know it couldn't be more grounded when ensuring the success of any seo strategy. Strong quality written content is fundamental in ensuring that google and more importantly your target user gives you the business you deserve. Its about quality, relevance and assuming an identity after all a king is crowned by the people for the people.

Quality content
By quality we mean quality. Simply taking regurgitated snippets of text from other websites and trying to pass it off as yours will do little justice to your business. The point here is that there is no point if you do not take the time to create content that is of genuine value and aims to engage, empower and convert visitors.

Relevant content
Rich content isn't just about the text. Think about the way that you take in information? Are you a visual person? Do you prefer to see something as opposed to having to read something? As a prolific reader I know how much I need to be able to read about something especially if it is something I am about to spend money on. My 16 year old son however(and quite scarily the next generation of online spenders) either watches everything via a you tube video or scans and absorbs information through the use of visual images. Again the same can be said for my teenage sisters who want to see. The point here is pointing out that you need to try to create content that is visual and textual, and don't be afraid to experiment using various landing pages to identify the layout and format that converts the best. Think about what grabs your attention? And be creative with your content.

Google loves websites that are constantly adding fresh content to their website, it shows them that you are serious about your business and understand the need to empower your users through this constant defining and re defining process.

And if you have neither the time nor the inclination but understand the logic, all you have to do is contact us to handle it for you.

Here at velocityweb we shape and create content that elevates your website above the rest because we know as does any king that is united with his people that together we are better, together we are stronger.

Say goodbye to Google checkout. Here comes Google Wallet

With the ever so innovative, digital era, it appears you can now count your mobile phone as your wallet. This doesn't mark the end of Google Checkout however. This new feature brings a new relationship between Google checkout and Google Wallet meaning 2 things:

1) Google Wallet users can now make purchases on Google Checkout enabled sites

2) Google  Checkout users will have their accounts automatically merged with Google Wallet

This couldn’t have been a more appropriate time to deliver an obviously beneficial feature. Save time and money with this virtual wallet that stores your payment cards, offers and more onto your phone and online. For those yet to do their Christmas shopping, you will now be able to seamlessly purchase products from merchants that accept Google Checkout. There’s no need to pull out your credit card or enter shipping details with every transaction. All you need is your Google Wallet Password and username and the job is done. Google are also integrating thispayment method amongst platforms such as Android Market, Youtube, Google+ Games and more.

Google Checkout was the competitive answer to Paypal, excluding a few features such as the ability to perform peer to peer transactions. Despite running plenty of ads directed towards Adword Advertisers, the feature wasn’t marketed very well and consequently lacked enough users to rival Paypal.

Where do they go from here?
After Google launched Google Wallet they announced plans to bring the feature to more phones in the future. Sprint is the first official carrier partner since it is the carrier offering the Nexus S 4G. But as other Android smartphones equipped with NFC (near-field communications) technology come on the market, other devices on other carriers will eventually be able to use the service too. Also Google Wallet only supports 2 kinds of cards:

• Citi® MasterCard® credit cards
• Google Prepaid Card

Eventually, however the digital wallet will support all payment cards so to empty your wallet and leaving you with the only plastic necessary. Your Phone.

How safe is it?
In order to make a purchase using Google Wallet, you are required to enter a PIN. Android phones also feature a separate lock screen. Google Wallet stores your encrypted payment card credentials on a computer chip on your phone called the Secure Element. Think of the Secure Element as a separate computer, capable of running programs and storing data. The Secure Element is separate from your Android phone's memory. The chip is designed to only allow trusted programs on the Secure Element itself to access the payment credentials stored therein.

Panda update

What to do if your site has Bamboo?

Google search engine has become as black and white as a Pandas coat. In the past, many sites where getting unfair advantages over their competition using Black hat SEO. However, as of February this year, Google unleashed a revolutionary new algorithm update named “Google Panda” that has changed the way they examine websites and how they rank them in search results.  Many sites have already suffered drawbacks of lower ranking in search results and have even been taken off Google altogether. Google Panda needs some serious consideration when designing a website. Simply ask yourself, “Do my customers feel comfortable on my website?”

The aim of Google Panda is to cleanse the SERPS and put low quality websites where they belong. However, what do Google render as low quality? And how does this affect SEO technique?

Here are some of the elements that Google Panda look into when rating your sites quality:

  • How long do people spend on your sites?
  • Who are you linked to and how many links are there?
  • How clean is the coding?
  • How many people click from SERPS?
  • How much advertising is there?
  • Is there High quality content?
  • Is it easy to navigate?
  • How many inbound and social links point to the site?

Of course, SEO services have been dealing with these issues for years but since the emergence of Google Panda, trustworthy SEO has become imperative. Google can now prevent lower quality sites from tricking them into thinking they are of higher quality.

So if you want more traffic, there is only one way to do so. Embrace the Google Panda update and apply the features. Don’t keep recycling old SEO techniques and keep to SEO fashion. Here are some of the things you should do:

  • Add more quality content – Videos, photos, music etc.
  • Don’t bombard your content with distracting ads.
  • Increase social media efforts. Large numbers of social links is a key indicator of trust.
  • Produce content for people. NOT search engines.

Those who think it wise to cheat the system will be hit hard by upcoming features. Google Panda is going nowhere and neither is your business unless you follow the rules.
